Items Function Catalog
Read envelope and authority first. none means no dispatcher work-claim check; handler permissions still apply. Read command help for the live payload and serving floor.

Creation and structured writes
yoke items create --title "Outcome" --workflow task --spec-file spec.md --project P --execution-instructions-considered
The item text is spec. Title and spec are flags only: --title TEXT or
--title-file PATH for the title, --spec-file PATH or --stdin for the
spec. Positional text refuses with ITEM_TEXT_POSITIONAL_RETIRED. Task and
Dash are thin shortcuts to this same operation without --workflow.
The payload carries spec. Creation stores it with attribution in the same
transaction. A spec-bearing CLI write first previews the request and requires
spec_accepted in the receipt. An older server that cannot attest acceptance
refuses with the argument serving floor before a real write. The real-write
receipt must also attest acceptance. A changed serving contract reports the
available item identifiers and spec repair command. Do not repeat creation.
Creation no longer accepts --content-file or the retired item-text field.
Every create chooses the target project, pinned workflow and allowed typed entry
surface. Non-web filing reads Before creation instructions with
yoke workflow execution-instruction resolve --workflow W --project P --full
and explicitly sends execution_instructions_considered: true; CLI adapters
never attest for the caller. Web forms render their own instructions; promotion,
dry-run and disposable test targets retain their exemptions. The receipt echoes
the accepted attestation. Missing attestation refuses before creation.
Item body is rendered from stored fields. Full replacement preserves empty/shrinkage/freeze guards; additive transforms preserve prior content. Field-target section upsert requires the named stored field and heading level; section operations without a field address item sections. Verify the returned field/section and line counts. Request JSON on the original mutation.

Progress Log append stamps the timestamp, preserves entries and upserts at
ordering 200. Entry bodies are limited to 4,096 UTF-8 bytes; larger appends
refuse with progress_log_entry_too_large. Write only what changed and the
next step; move evidence to artifacts or feedback. Entries are current-state checkpoints; task-graph planning fields
remain reserved for generated-task workflows. Scalars validate their own fields.
Lifecycle transitions enforce the exact pin, source stage and target gates;
terminal status is pipeline-owned, never a scalar shortcut.

Readiness and resync return observed evidence and named repairs; read-shaped previews never authorize an unrequested mutation. Domain contract.
